Job summary

Stott and May Inc. is seeking an Applications Support Engineer to join our fintech platform in New York. You will own incidents, improve monitoring and automation, and collaborate with engineering and business teams to maintain reliability and scalability.

This is a hybrid role with on-site responsibilities in New York, shipping coverage across US working hours. Training will guide progression toward a Site Reliability Engineer.

Qualifications

• Production experience in application support or site reliability engineering.
• Knowledge of SRE principles, including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets and blameless post-mortems.
• Experience with observability tools such as Datadog and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Proficiency in a programming or scripting language such as TypeScript, .NET, Bash or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of SQL, databases, networking fundamentals, and Linux and Windows systems.
• Strong problem-solving, prioritisation and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• A proactive, customer-focused approach to technical challenges.
• Infrastructure as code, such as Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
• DevOps deployment tools such as TeamCity, Octopus Deploy or Docker.
• Financial-sector experience (nice to have)
• Exposure to AI/ML platforms, prompt engineering or LLM API integrations (nice to have)

Responsibilities

• Own and resolve platform and infrastructure incidents, working with cross-functional teams to restore service quickly.
• Build and maintain runbooks, post-mortems and internal documentation.
• Improve monitoring, alerting and dashboards.
• Reduce operational overhead through automation and reliability engineering.
• Improve support processes and applications.
• Train and coach members of the UK on-call support rota.

Working with a phenomenal Fintech business Application Support Engineer, you will help keep our platform and infrastructure reliable, scalable and running smoothly through incident response, monitoring, automation, and collaboration with engineering and business teams. As the business’s first US technical hire, you will provide on-the-ground support from our New York office and extend platform coverage into US working hours. Training and development will support your progression towards becoming a Site Reliability Engineer.
