Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an Application Security Engineer to lead security within the software development lifecycle. You will partner with engineers, architects, and audits to ensure secure design, coding, and deployment practices across applications.

The role focuses on vulnerability management, testing oversight, secure code reviews, and security governance to reduce vulnerabilities and improve developer security awareness. Hybrid work in Oklahoma City is supported.

Description

The Application Security (AppSec) Engineer serves as the security leader within the software development organization, responsible for embedding security throughout the entire software development lifecycle. This individual partners closely with software engineers, architects, security teams, risk management, compliance, internal audit, and business stakeholders to ensure applications are designed, developed, and maintained securely. The role combines technical responsibilities such as vulnerability management, penetration testing oversight, secure code reviews, security architecture reviews, and vendor software assessments with strategic responsibilities like developer education, secure coding governance, and security program maturation.

A significant portion of the role is focused on evaluating and administering application security testing tools, interpreting security findings, and partnering with development teams to remediate vulnerabilities before they reach production. The engineer is expected to establish secure coding standards, conduct ongoing training and awareness sessions, perform code and architecture reviews, and serve as a trusted advisor to development teams on secure design principles. This position also plays an important role in supporting audits, regulatory requirements, and incident response activities while helping the company strengthen its overall Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC).

Ultimately, this is less of a traditional infrastructure security position and more of an Application Security and Secure SDLC leadership role. Success will be measured by the organization’s ability to reduce application vulnerabilities, improve developer security awareness, standardize secure development practices, strengthen security controls within software design, and build a sustainable application security program that protects highly sensitive customer, insurance, healthcare, and financial data.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $140000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
