Job summary

Sensient Colors in St. Louis, MO is seeking an Applications Scientist I to work closely with customers, identifying color projects and defining success. You will present solutions and sell color value directly to clients, with site visits to Sensient labs or customer locations.

You will support color development, run stability tests, and help expand natural color sales globally while providing technical service to clients in the food colorants space.

Qualifications

• A degree in chemistry, biochemistry or food science is required.
• Strong communication skills are essential for direct customer interaction.
• Willingness to travel to Sensient Color division sites.
• Proficient with a colorimeter or spectrophotometer and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support US Commercial team by direct customer calls to identify color projects and success criteria.
• Evaluate natural and synthetic colors approved by FDA; perform stability tests.
• Test color blends and finished products; write reports on stability results.
• Improve formulation and stability of natural colors through physical modification.
• Formulate color mixtures; provide technical support to US and global customers.
• Evaluate new natural colors not FDA-approved and assess material sources.
• Develop test plans and assess material applications; assist QC procedures.
• Support sales and travel with them to meet clients; develop color assay procedures.
