Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services Limited in Missouri City, TX is seeking a Senior Engineer in TECHNOLOGY to lead enterprise installer packaging projects. You will convert legacy installers to MSI/MSIX, customize installations using InstallShield, and develop advanced packages with Suite/Advanced UI.

The role requires strong scripting (PowerShell, VBScript, InstallScript), testing of silent installs, and collaboration with developers and infrastructure teams to ensure robust, upgrade-friendly

• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Proficient in PowerShell scripting and automation
• Experience in testing and troubleshooting packaged applications in Install Shield
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Relevant certifications in Microsoft technologies or IT service management

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Convert legacy installations (EXE, scripts) into MSI/MSIX packages.
2. Customize installations using InstallShield scripting, custom actions, and transforms (MSTs).
3. Perform application packaging for enterprise deployment using InstallShield tools.
4. Conduct testing (UAT, functional validation, silent installs) in different environments.
5. Review essential elements such as dependencies, prerequisites, upgrade behavior, rollback needs, and configuration steps.
6. Maintain package documentation, standards, and best practices.
7. Work closely with application developers and infrastructure teams.
8. Engage with developers to understand and analyze technical requirements for installer creation.
9. Comprehend application deployment requirements and define a comprehensive deployment workflow.
10. Follow applicable design and architecture review requirements before implementation.
11. Utilize InstallShield to create installer packages, including .msi packages, .exe installers, .msp patches, and hotfixes/updates.
12. Develop advanced installer packages using Suite/Advanced UI Project, integrating third-party components effectively.
13. Demonstrate proficiency in scripting languages suc h as Install Script, VBScript, C# and PowerShell to enhance installation processes.
14. Design wizard-based UI for Suite/Advanced UI projects.
15. Develop and execute test cases for verifying installer packages, focusing on fresh installs, upgrades, uninstalls, silent/command-line installs, and bundled dependency behavior.
16. Ensure OS compatibility and overall package robustness.

Salary Range

$85,000 - $95,000 per year
