Job summary

Human Capital Ventures is assisting a global leader in engineering plastics to recruit a Technical Service Engineer (Application Engineering) in Farmington Hills, MI. You will deliver customer-facing technical support and develop application solutions across the product lifecycle, working with global R&D teams and internal stakeholders.

The role requires hands-on engineering thermoplastics knowledge, strong problem solving and the ability to travel internationally, including to South America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required/strongly preferred in a technical discipline.
• 5+ years in application engineering/technical service/polymer engineering or related field.
• Strong understanding of engineering thermoplastics and injection molding.

Responsibilities

• Work with customers throughout product development lifecycle from requirements to launch.
• Develop technical solutions for engineering thermoplastics, material selection, injection molding and part performance.
• Support molding trials, product evaluations and qualification activities with technical recommendations.
• Troubleshoot material, molding and application issues; perform root-cause analysis.
• Evaluate relationships between material properties, processing, dimensional stability and performance.
• Utilize DSC, FTIR, SEM, microscopy, MFR, mechanical testing and dimensional analysis where appropriate.
• Prepare technical reports, processing recommendations and applications documentation.
• Support development and commercialization of new materials and applications.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships with sales, R&D and product teams.
• Provide training and technical support to customers, distributors and channel partners.
• Coordinate with global teams to communicate requirements and coordinate investigations.
• Be flexible for early morning/evening meetings and domestic/international travel.
