Job summary

Hydro-Thermal Corporation is seeking an Applications Engineering Manager to lead our Applications Engineering team and deliver accurate and timely technical solutions for our customers.

This hands‑on leadership role combines engineering, customer interaction, team development, and process improvement across Sales, Product Development, Project Engineering, Controls, Operations, Quality, and Service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in applications engineering, product engineering, technical sales support, or related industrial experience.
• Experience leading people, projects, or technical work; supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, process data analysis, and engineered industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop Applications Engineers with clear performance expectations.
• Oversee sizing, selection, configuration, and application of Hydro-Thermal products.

Hydro-Thermal Corporation is seeking an Applications Engineering Manager to lead our Applications Engineering team and deliver accurate and timely technical solutions for our customers.

This is a hands-on leadership role combining engineering, customer interaction, team development, and process improvement. You'll work closely with Sales, Product Development, Project Engineering, Controls, Operations, Quality, and Service while serving as a technical resource for complex applications.

What You'll Do

• Lead, coach, and develop Applications Engineers while setting clear expectations for performance, technical growth, and customer service.
• Manage team priorities, workload, capacity, delegation, and cross-training to ensure commitments stay on track.
• Oversee the technical sizing, selection, configuration, and application of Hydro-Thermal products and systems.
• Establish application standards, calculation methods, product guidelines, and technical review processes.
• Serve as the technical escalation point for complex or high-risk applications.
• Partner with Sales and customers on technical discovery, solution development, presentations, trials, troubleshooting, and quote development.
• Identify technical, scope, margin, and execution risks and help turn customer and field feedback into product and process improvements.
• Continuously improve Applications Engineering workflows, CPQ tools, documentation, and processes.
• Provide leadership for post-shipment technical resolution, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and engineering changes.
• Provide overall governance for the engineering laboratory, ensuring safe, organized, and effective operations.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 5+ years of experience in applications engineering, product engineering, technical sales support, process systems, or related industrial experience.
• Experience leading people, projects, or technical work; supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, process data analysis, and engineered industrial equipment.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into technical calculations, equipment selections, configurations, and practical solutions.
• Strong leadership, communication, planning, prioritization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Preferred:

• Experience with direct steam injection, process heating, skid-mounted equipment, sanitary processing, controls, valves, or related industrial technologies.
• Knowledge of PLC logic, PID loop tuning, and process-system troubleshooting.
• Experience with CPQ, ERP, CRM, product configuration, or engineering change control.
• Experience with AutoCAD, P&IDs, continuous improvement, root-cause analysis, or ISO 9001 environments.

Travel

Approximately 20-30% travel is expected for customer visits, field support, training, conferences, and other business needs. Travel may occasionally include departures outside normal business hours.
