Siemens is seeking an Application Engineering Summer-Fall Co-Op based in Wendell, North Carolina. You will support the Application Engineering team with product configuration, bid coordination, and proposal development while gaining exposure to NX-Tools, COMPAS, and AI-enabled tooling.

The program targets electrical engineering students enrolled in NC State’s co-op program, with on-site 40-hour weeks during Summer and Fall 2027.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and approaching completion.
  • Candidates must be enrolled with the North Carolina State University co-op program.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis; foundational understanding of electrical drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Application Engineering team with product configuration, bid coordination, and proposal development activities.
  • Review customer specifications and configure GMSG and SIMOVAC solutions using NX-Tools and COMPAS.
  • Support technical and commercial proposal development and coordinate with internal teams and manufacturing partners.
  • Assist with testing new tools and support AI integration into quoting and engineering activities.
  • Interact with customers and internal stakeholders to understand project requirements, scope, and solution development.

The Electrification and Automation (EA) division of Siemens Smart Infrastructure provides a full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for customers across all markets and channels. As a co-op, you'll support reliable power distribution grids used today while gaining exposure to our Future Grids technologies that are helping shape the power systems of tomorrow.

We are seeking qualified candidates for our Application Engineering Summer - Fall Co-Op beginning in May 2027. This position will be based at our Wendell, North Carolina office location.

You’ll make an impact by:
  • Supporting the Application Engineering team with product configuration, bid coordination, and proposal development activities.
  • Reviewing customer specifications and configuring GMSG and SIMOVAC solutions using NX-Tools and COMPAS.
  • Supporting technical and commercial proposal development and coordinating with internal teams and manufacturing partners.
  • Assisting with testing new tools and supporting the implementation of AI into day-to-day quoting and engineering activities.
  • Interacting with customers and internal stakeholders to understand project requirements, scope, and solution development.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and approaching completion of the required educational credentials for this opportunity.
  • Candidates must be enrolled with the North Carolina State University co-op program.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis and foundational understanding of electrical drawings.
  • Ability to work on-site full-time (40 hours per week) during the Summer and Fall 2027 semesters.
  • Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC, as this role does not provide housing or relocation support.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis.
  • This co-op is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career Development Program opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with dashboards and reporting tools, such as Power BI.
  • Knowledge of process improvement concepts and the ability to adapt to changing processes.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities while supporting cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in AI tools and their application within engineering, quoting, or business processes.

You’ll Benefit From

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 per hour for first time Interns or $25.50 per hour for returning Interns. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
