Siemens is seeking an Electrical Engineering Summer–Fall Co-op based in Wendell, NC. You will contribute to medium‑voltage power distribution projects while gaining exposure to Future Grids technologies, under the Electrification and Automation division.

You will review drawings, assist engineers, and participate in documentation initiatives as part of an experiential learning program connected to NC State University.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Completed coursework in Power Systems and Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability to work on-site full-time (40 hours per week) during Summer/Fall 2027.
  • Candidates must be enrolled with the NC State University co-op program.

Responsibilities

  • Support electrical engineering projects involving medium‑voltage power distribution equipment.
  • Review engineering drawings and technical documentation to aid project execution.

As an intern with the Electrification and Automation (EA) division of Siemens Smart Infrastructure, you’ll gain hands‑on experience supporting power distribution systems that keep the world running today, while also being exposed to our Future Grids technologies that are shaping the power systems of tomorrow - all within a collaborative, impact‑driven environment.

We are seeking qualified candidates to join our Electrical Engineering Summer – Fall Co‑op beginning in May 2027. This position will be based at our Wendell, North Carolina office location.
You’ll make an impact by:
  • Supporting electrical engineering projects related to medium‑voltage power distribution equipment.
  • Reviewing engineering drawings and technical documentation to support project execution.
  • Assisting Lead Project Engineers with engineering deliverables and technical documentation.
  • Supporting process improvement and engineering documentation initiatives.
  • Gaining exposure to protection and power system concepts supporting data center and utility applications.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and approaching completion of the required educational credentials for this opportunity.
  • Completed coursework in Power Systems and Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability to work on‑site full‑time (40 hours per week) during the Summer and Fall 2027 semesters.
  • Candidates must be enrolled with the North Carolina State University co‑op program.
  • Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC, as this role does not provide relocation support.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
  • This co‑op is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career Development Program opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Interest in protection and power system applications for data center and utility projects.
  • Experience supporting engineering projects, documentation activities, or process improvement initiatives.

You’ll Benefit From

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 per hour for first time Interns or $25.50 per hour for returning Interns. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
