Job summary

Rohde & Schwarz is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to join our team in the Mid-Atlantic region. You will work with customers on demanding aerospace, defense, and satellite systems, providing hands-on RF expertise from concept through delivery.

You will demonstrate products, train customer teams, and collaborate with sales, marketing and R&D to drive solutions that meet real-world measurement challenges. Excellent communication and travel readiness are essential.

Qualifications

• Background in electrical engineering or related field; BSEE or similar degree preferred.
• Knowledge of advanced RF & Microwave systems with fluency in test and measurement instrumentation and their applications.
• 5+ years with hands-on experience in test and evaluation or design of RF & Microwave components and systems.
• Programming experience (Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, etc).
• Strong communication skills — able to translate complex technical concepts for both engineering and management audiences.
• Ability to travel 25% primarily within the region, with occasional US & international travel.
• Resident in the US and US citizen required.

Responsibilities

• Build lasting customer relationships across the Mid-Atlantic region by providing responsive, high-quality pre- and post-sales technical support for RF test and measurement instruments and applications.
• Collaborate closely with Application Engineers and Account Managers across the region to align on customer needs and deliver coordinated, high-impact technical and sales support.
• Develop and deliver compelling product demonstrations and proof-of-concept solutions customized to customer applications.
• Provide customer engineering teams with hands-on training, application guides, and on-site support tailored to their tools, workflows, and measurement challenges.
• Partner with R&D and product teams to relay customer insights from the field and help drive product roadmap decisions.

In this role, you'll be working with customers designing and building some of the world’s most demanding aerospace, defense, and satellite systems — bringing deep RF expertise directly to the engineers who need it most. As an Application Engineer, you'll work at the intersection of cutting‑edge test & measurement technology and mission‑critical applications. Working closely with our sales, marketing, and R&D teams, you’ll engage customers through product demonstrations, tailored training sessions, and deep‑dive technical support. Your tasks

Your Qualifications

• Have a strong background in electrical engineering or related field. BSEE or similar degree preferred.
• Knowledge of advanced RF & Microwave systems with fluency in test and measurement instrumentation (Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Oscilloscopes, Vector Network Analyzers) and their applications.
• 5+ years with hands‑on experience in test and evaluation or design of RF & Microwave components and systems
• Programming experience (Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, etc)
• Strong communication skills — able to translate complex technical concepts for both engineering and management audiences
• Ability to proactively take ownership of difficult problems and collaboratively work to develop solutions
• Ability to travel 25 % primarily within the region, with occasional US & international travel
• In order to be considered, candidates must reside in the US and be a US citizen.

The total compensation for this position is $140K-$190K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job‑related skills.
