Job summary

Oerlikon Surface Solutions in Huntersville, NC is seeking an Application Engineer to engage with customers and develop innovative metal additive manufacturing solutions.

You will prepare technical responses and proposals, own customer opportunities, and collaborate with Business Development, Program Management, and Engineering to drive profitable growth across aerospace, defense, and other advanced markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science, or closely related discipline.
• 3+ years of proven experience in metal additive manufacturing.
• Experience reading specifications, statements of work and part drawings.
• Experience in aerospace/defense domains preferred.
• Willingness to travel ~10% for customer meetings and events.
• Experience in ISO 9001:2015 / AS9100 certified environments.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers to evaluate metal components for additive manufacturing and develop optimized solutions.
• Lead technical engagements to create detailed quotations, proposals, and business cases.
• Interface with Commercial Team to identify and secure new opportunities.
• Support quotations, proposals, contracts, and customer agreements with stakeholders.
• Assist in pricing, scope, and terms to meet business objectives.
• Coordinate transitions from opportunities to Engineering and Operations, aligning scope and manufacturing strategy.
• Maintain relationships by addressing technical issues and providing ongoing support.
