Mars Veterinary Health is seeking an Application Engineer to own feature delivery within their product pillar, coordinating with product management and offshore partners to translate business requirements into technical designs and production-ready software.
You will balance technical depth with collaboration across distributed teams, ensuring architecture standards, security, and maintainability while contributing hands-on coding and rapid prototyping as needed.
As part of the Mars Petcare family of businesses, Mars Veterinary Health is a global network of veterinary practices made possible by 75,000 Associates who care for millions of pets across nearly 3,000 clinics in more than 20 countries each year. We are committed to leveraging our reach to make a long-term positive impact on people, pets, and the planet and know our Purpose - A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS - starts with the people who care for them. We strive to offer unparalleled veterinary care for pets by first and foremost enabling and empowering our Associates to do what they love, whether in primary, specialty, and emergency care or management and leadership.

This role requires associates to work out of a MVH North America hub location - Vancouver, WA
The Application Engineer is the technical owner for feature delivery within their assigned product pillar. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Engineering for the pillar, this role serves as the connection between business intent and delivered software: partnering with product teams to convert business requirements into technical requirements and designs, then working alongside offshore vendor engineering teams to see those designs built, released, and supported in production.
The Application Engineer balances technical depth with the coordination skills required in a distributed delivery model. This role defines what good looks like before work begins, holds the quality line on what comes back, and ensures delivered features align with the pillar's architecture vision, technical roadmap, and operational support model.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
Minimum 3 years of professional software engineering experience, including designing, developing, and delivering applications or features into production environments.
Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications, solution designs, and measurable acceptance criteria.
Proficiency in C#/.NET and TypeScript/Angular application development, with experience building and supporting applications in Microsoft Azure environments.
Working knowledge of Azure cloud services, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure API Management (APIM), Azure Key Vault, and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
Experience with Git-based source control, pull request reviews, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), and modern software development practices.
Understanding of application architecture, API integrations, data flows, security practices, and enterprise application design principles.
Experience reviewing code, evaluating technical implementations, and identifying quality, performance, security, and maintainability concerns.
Working knowledge of application observability, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions, risks, and tradeoffs to engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, manage competing technical priorities, and collaborate effectively across product, engineering, and business teams.
