Advantech is seeking an Application Engineer II for Computer Systems in Tustin, CA, onsite. You will help integrate bare motherboards and system products into customer solutions, supporting cross-functional teams and customers across multiple projects.

Responsibilities include hardware/software demonstrations, rapid prototype development, testing, and creating technical reports. Collaboration with product managers and sales is essential to success in a dynamic, hands-on environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in PC hardware engineering or related field.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and PCB layouts.
• Experience with test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers).
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

• Create customer-specific solutions including pre/post-sale assessments, feasibility testing, and RMA verification.

• Lead technical discussions across Advantech locations and interact with customer stakeholders daily.

Compensation: $75,000-$85,000

About this position

Advantech is on the search for an Application Engineer, computer systems that has a passion for working with bare motherboards,computer system products, and building custom products from concept to production for various vertical markets and companies. We are also searching for someone who has an understanding of how to embed and integrate our products into those of our customers. The ideal candidate is motivated to learn, comfortable working in a hands-on technical environment, and able to collaborate effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide product engineering support to product managers, sales, channel partners and customers.


• Assist in creating customer specific solutions consisting of: pre/post sale technical assessments, feasibility testing, technical response to customer bids, and RMA verification


• Construct hardware and software demonstration prototypes to aid sales and marketing efforts, such as: rapid hardware prototype development, high-level application software coding and system integration


• Conduct product testing while working with senior engineers and product managers


• Develop test plans, capture and analyze data, and write technical reports, and related procedures


• Work with multiple function teams across Advantech locations to lead technical discussions and gather critical information for customer responses


• Daily interfacing with customer stakeholders to answer day-to-day questions and provide trending data


• Participate in trade shows and events to demonstrate products and support cross-functional teams


• Using internal systems, leveraging existing knowledge base and capable of self-researching and problem-solving skills.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.


• 4+ years of experience in PC hardware engineering, PC technical support, systems engineering, or a related industry.


• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and PCB layouts.


• Experience using test and measurement equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and/or logic analyzers.


• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solv ing skills.


• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.


• Ability to collaborate effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with block-level and board-level circuit design and evaluation.


• Experience with embedded Windows and/or Linux installation and debugging.


• Experience performing PCB soldering and rework.


• Experience developing test plans, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing technical reports and procedures.


• Hands-on experience with x86 PC hardware testing, evaluation, installation, and troubleshooting.


• Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.


• Experience analyzing hardware failures and/or RMA data and preparing technical reports.


• Experience with hardware/software prototype development and system integration.


• Experience with high-level application software coding.


• Experience providing technical support to customers, sales teams, product managers, or channel partners.


• Experience with customer-specific technical solutions, feasibility testing, or technical assessments.


• Experience participating in trade shows, product demonstrations, or customer-facing technical events.


• Experience working with international or geographically distributed teams.


• Ability to independently research technical issues and develop solutions using available resources.
