Reporting to the Manager of Application Engineering, the Application Engineer I will work cross-functionally within the Abrasives organization (Sales, Product, Marketing, and R&D teams) and directly with customers to deliver target outcomes.

The incumbent is responsible for the technical planning, execution, and documentation of value-creating testing activities at customer sites to grow profitable abrasive product sales through market share gain and to protect or improve key business at existing customers.--

Essential Functions

SHARE GAIN PROJECT LEADERSHIP

  • Work in close collaboration with Sales and Product teams to lead technical activities associated with competitive share gain opportunities.
  • Effectively prioritize and plan testing activities based on customer objectives and relevant commercial & technical factors.
  • Perform on-site execution of abrasive product testing, including data collection and use of appropriate process measurement & analysis techniques.
  • Generate engineering documentation detailing abrasive product performance and grinding process outcomes, including customer cost & carbon savings.

DEFENSE AND IMPROVEMENT OF CURRENT BUSINESS

  • Provide proactive and reactive support to Sales related to business defense and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide troubleshooting, process improvements, and implement product upgrades at customer sites.
  • Conduct on-site training and process assessments.
  • Develop and maintain key customer relationships.

TRAINING AND MARKETING SUPPORT

  • Provide technical contributions to marketing initiatives, special events, and training programs.

TECHNO-ADJACENT TEAM SUPPORT

  • Leverage subject matter and/or market expertise to support techno-adjacent team initiatives (OEM, APS/AAE, R&D, HGTC).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree - Engineering (Required)
  • MBA or MS -Business Administration or Engineering (Preferred)
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or technical sales experience related to abrasive products or processes (Preferred)

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $70,000 to $108,000 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 15% with a max of 35% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
