Job summary

LeoForce is seeking an Application Engineer for Building Automation in Charlotte, NC to develop and support HVAC controls solutions. You will translate project requirements and mechanical systems into BAS/DDC control strategies, collaborating with project managers, programmers, technicians and customers throughout projects.

The role focuses on BAS applications for AHUs, VAVs, chillers and central plant equipment, with involvement in testing, commissioning and customer support.

Qualifications

• Experience with Building Automation, HVAC controls, DDC or BMS applications engineering.
• Understanding of commercial HVAC equipment, sequences of operation and control strategies.
• Experience selecting BAS controllers, sensors, actuators and related hardware.
• Familiarity with BAS platforms and open protocols such as BACnet/Modbus.

Responsibilities

• Develop BAS/DDC applications and control strategies for commercial HVAC systems.
• Review mechanical plans, specs, sequences of operation and project requirements.
• Select controllers, sensors, actuators and other control system components.
• Develop control sequences, points lists, network architecture and layouts.
• Engineer applications for AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers and central plant equipment.
• Create submittals, BOMs, control diagrams and technical documentation.
• Support programming, graphics, startup and commissioning teams.
• Assist with system integrations using BACnet, Modbus and other protocols.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues as needed.
• Coordinate with customers, engineers, PMs and field teams to ensure requirements are met.

Building Automation Applications Engineer

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Summary: We're seeking a Building Automation Applications Engineer to develop and support HVAC controls solutions for commercial and institutional facilities. In this role, you'll translate project requirements and mechanical systems into effective BAS/DDC control solutions, working closely with project managers, programmers, technicians, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.

What You'll Do

• Develop BAS/DDC applications and control strategies for commercial HVAC systems.
• Review mechanical plans, specifications, sequences of operation, and project requirements.
• Select controllers, sensors, actuators, and other control system components.
• Develop control sequences, points lists, network architecture, and system layouts.
• Engineer applications for AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, heat pumps, and central plant equipment.
• Create submittals, bills of material, control diagrams, and technical project documentation.
• Support BAS programming, graphics, startup, and commissioning teams throughout project execution.
• Assist with system integrations using BACnet, Modbus, and other open protocols.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot application or system issues as needed.
• Coordinate with customers, consulting engineers, project managers, and field teams to ensure solutions meet project requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience with Building Automation, HVAC Controls, DDC, or BMS applications engineering.
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC equipment, sequences of operation, and control strategies.
• Experience selecting and applying BAS controllers, sensors, actuators, and related control hardware.
• Experience with one or more BAS platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Schneider EcoStruxure, Siemens Desigo, Johnson Controls Metasys, Distech, Delta Controls, Reliable Controls, Honeywell, Alerton, or Automated Logic/WebCTRL.
• Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, and networked building control systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, specifications, and control schematics.
• Experience with Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD, or similar design tools is a plus.
• Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.
