Job description

Davalyn Corporation has been retained to identify an experienced Applications Engineer - CNC Machine Tools for a well-established provider of advanced CNC manufacturing technology serving manufacturers throughout the assigned region.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a hands-on manufacturing professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, working directly with customers, and helping manufacturers maximize the performance of their machining operations. You'll combine your CNC programming, machining, and process knowledge to support vertical and horizontal machining centers, CNC turning centers, multi-axis machining systems, and advanced manufacturing technologies, helping customers improve productivity, quality, and overall manufacturing performance

What You'll Do:
  • Provide technical application support for a wide range of CNC manufacturing equipment, including vertical and horizontal machining centers, CNC turning centers, multi-axis machining systems, and other advanced metal cutting technologies used in precision manufacturing.
  • Assist with machine setup, prove-outs, commissioning, and process optimization to ensure equipment performs at its highest level.
  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs while troubleshooting machining, programming, tooling, and process-related issues.
  • Train customers on machine operation, programming techniques, machining best practices, and preventative maintenance to maximize equipment performance.
  • Demonstrate equipment capabilities and recommend improvements that increase productivity, quality, cycle time, and machining efficiency.
  • Partner with sales and engineering teams to develop manufacturing solutions tailored to each customer's production goals and machining requirements.
  • Prepare technical documentation, programming notes, and application recommendations to support successful customer implementations.
  • Stay current with advancements in CNC machining, CAD/CAM software, cutting tools, automation, workholding, and modern manufacturing technologies.
Preferred Background:
  • We're looking for someone who has built a career around CNC machining and enjoys solving technical manufacturing challenges. You may currently support CNC equipment in an applications, manufacturing, process engineering, programming, or field service role, or you may be a highly experienced machinist ready to transition into a customer-facing technical position.
  • The ideal candidate has hands-on experience programming, setting up, or supporting 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis CNC machining centers, CNC turning centers, multi-axis machining systems, or other precision metal cutting equipment. A strong understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, workholding, CAD/CAM programming, G-code, process optimization, and machine performance will translate well into this role.
  • Success in this position often comes from supporting manufacturers in aerospace, medical device, automotive, industrial equipment, contract manufacturing, precision machining, or other advanced manufacturing environments where quality, accuracy, and productivity are critical.
  • Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll work directly with customers to provide technical guidance, application support, operator training, and practical manufacturing solutions. Occasional overnight travel throughout the assigned territory is expected.
  • Competitive hourly compensation of approximately $37-$60 per hour, depending on experience and technical background
  • Additional compensation flexibility for highly qualified senior Applications Engineers
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Education assistance and ongoing technical training
  • Long-term career growth with an established leader in advanced manufacturing technology
Why Consider This Opportunity:
  • Join a respected organization recognized for delivering advanced CNC manufacturing solutions to precision manufacturers across North America.
  • Work with a broad range of machining technologies while helping customers solve complex manufacturing and machining challenges.
  • Partner with machine shops, OEM manufacturers, aerospace companies, medical device manufacturers, automotive suppliers, contract manufacturers, and other precision machining operations throughout the assigned region.
  • Expand your technical expertise through a combination of hands-on machining, customer interaction, CNC programming, and continuous learning.
  • Become part of a collaborative technical team where your machining knowledge and problem-solving abilities directly contribute to customer success.
