Job summary

Fives Group, headquartered in Paris, France, is expanding its Applications Engineering team in Hebron, Kentucky.

The Applications Engineer will design, plan, and coordinate the mechanical and software integration for Fives machine tools, controls, and processes to deliver technology-driven components for aerospace, automotive, energy, oil & gas, and heavy equipment sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree or equivalent education and experience.
• Five or more years' experience in industrial manufacturing environment.
• Three to five years' experience in machine tool manufacturing.
• Experience in the deposition of pre-preg material onto layup and cure molding.
• Experience in automated manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a safe, healthy work environment for all employees.
• Collaborate with customers to identify new applications, markets and opportunities for processing equipment.
• Identify opportunities to improve capabilities of processing equipment based on customer need.
• Develop new processing system concepts based on market trends.
• Review customer part manufacturing requirements and prepare simulations/reports using CAD/CAM tools.
• Recommend machine types to best fit the application.
• Stay informed about technological improvements and innovations.
• Travel to customer facilities to support system introductions and resolve issues.
• Provide market vision, direction, and feedback to management.
• Prepare and deliver presentations on equipment applications and capabilities.
• Travel up to 75–85% to support new and existing business.

AccountabilityThe Applications Engineer will design, plan, and coordinate the mechanical and software integration for Fives machine tools, controls and processes to deliver technology driven components for a variety of industry sector applications including, but not limited to, aerospace, automotive, energy, oil & gas and heavy equipment. Scope and Responsibilities:Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
• Works closely with existing and new customers to identify new applications, markets and business opportunities for Fives processing equipment and technologies.
• Identifies opportunities to improve capabilities of Fives processing equipment based on customer experience and future needs.
• Identifies opportunities to develop new types of processing systems based on market trends.
• Reviews and analyzes customer part manufacturing requirements.
• Prepares customer part simulations and reports using CAD and composite CAM software.
• Recommends machine type to best fit the application.
• Stays abreast of technological improvements and innovations.
• Visit's customer facilities to support introduction of systems and processes, resolve processing issues.
• Provides market vision, direction, and feedback to management.
• Prepares and delivers presentations on equipment applications and process capabilities.
• This position will require frequent travel up to 75-85% to support new and existing business.

Education/Certification/Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree or equivalent education and experience.
• Five or more years' experience in industrial manufacturing environment.
• Three to five years' experience in machine tool manufacturing.
• Experience in the deposition of pre-preg material onto layup and cure molding.
• Experience in automated manufacturing equipment.

• Knowledgeable and proficient using engineering computer aided design tools.
• Good organizational skills with focus on attention to details.
• Excellent communication skills verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Working knowledge of machine tools equipment and processing
• Microsoft office software proficiency.

Travel RequirementsListed requirements are subject to change based upon Company work load and capacity. Listed requirements are based on current projection of needs.

• Up to 85%-90% Travel
• When on the road: 2 weeks on the road, 1 weekend home
• Flexibility to make quick adjustments to travel arrangements based on customer or company need
• When not traveling, expectation is to be at company facility in Hebron, KY
