Application Engineer Summary

The Application Engineer is responsible for understanding customer product specifications and technical needs and innovating and developing specific product/service solutions designs to meet those specifications. This position reports to the Sales Engineering Manager and is exempt.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare quotations for products and systems to meet customers’ requirements.
  • Provide quotation follow‑up as required.
  • Provide technical support for customers, internal staff, and external sales force.
  • Develop pricing for lifting systems and specialty linear positioning equipment.
  • Ensure that final product designs meet customers’ specifications.
  • Interact with customers, customer service, external sales force, design engineering, and manufacturing personnel to support customers’ requirements.
  • Work with engineers to resolve problems that arise during and after implementation.
  • Domestic travel (up to 5%).
  • Identify specific activities required to accomplish objectives, prioritize to drive desired results, and meet deadlines or outside obligations.
  • Complete reporting requirements as requested by the Sales Engineering Manager related to performance metrics or other measures that foster continuous improvement.
  • Perform related work and additional duties as requested/assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts verbally and in writing.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, AutoCAD).

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods standing.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times.
