Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Applications Engineer in Dallas, TX to evaluate customer specs, develop equipment designs, and perform engineering calculations for pump and piping systems. You will size components, prepare quotations, and work with vendors to ensure successful project delivery.

The role requires a mechanical engineering background, experience with pumps and VFDs, and strong Excel skills. Onsite position in Dallas with medical, dental, vision coverage and 401(k) matching.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred or related field.
• Experience with pumps, piping systems, valves, controls, and VFDs.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer specifications and project scopes.
• Develop preliminary equipment designs and engineering solutions.
• Perform calculations related to fluid mechanics, flow, pressure and system performance.
• Size and select pumps, valves, piping components, controls and VFDs.
• Prepare project quotations, cost estimates and pricing proposals.
• Collaborate with vendors on component selection and pricing.
• Serve as primary technical contact during early project stages.
• Support sales with technical expertise during meetings and proposals.
• Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, quality and PM teams to ensure project execution.
• Create and maintain project documentation and engineering records.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges while ensuring standards compliance.
• Utilize Excel and other tools to analyze data and improve processes.

• Utilize Microsoft Excel and other engineering tools to analyze data, create calculations, and improve processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering degrees will also be considered.

• Experience working with pumps, piping systems, valves, controls, and VFDs.

• Understanding of fluid mechanics and engineering calculations.

• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and project documentation.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $95000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
