Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Application Engineer to join a collaborative team supporting advanced capital equipment in electronics manufacturing. This hands-on, customer-facing role serves as the technical bridge between engineering, sales and end customers, configuring, validating and optimizing equipment to drive measurable production outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in application, manufacturing, or process engineering.
  • Strong troubleshooting on complex application/system-level issues in manufacturing.
  • Foundational electro‑mechanical knowledge (electrical, mechanical, software).
  • Working knowledge of statistical tools, process test plans, and DOE.
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication with customers, sales, distributors, and shop floor.
  • Willingness to travel ~50% across the U.S.
  • Bachelor's in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related) or equivalent experience.
  • Electronics manufacturing experience (SMT, wave soldering, reflow, cleaning, through‑hole).
  • Familiarity with SMT equipment and materials (solder paste, fluxes, adhesives, cleaning agents).
  • Exposure to semiconductor, capital equipment, field service, or sales engineering.
  • Customer‑facing or applications engineering background.
  • NPI, product trials, or process validation experience.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and process control.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre- and post-sales technical support alongside sales teams, distributors, and reps to close business
  • Travel ~50% to US customer sites for installations, troubleshooting, and process optimization
  • Host customers onsite in labs for demos, trials, and equipment evaluations
  • Translate customer requirements into tailored proposals, configurations, and technical solutions
  • Plan and execute DOE, lab trials, and validation testing (FAT/SAT)
  • Support NPI, customer training, beta testing, and production ramp-up
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to minimize downtime
  • Support quote development, RFQs, and equipment upgrades
  • Capture Voice of Customer to drive product improvement
  • Maintain lab equipment, technical documentation, and support trade shows/demos

Insight Global is seeking an Application Engineer to join a collaborative, globally connected team of six supporting advanced capital equipment in the electronics manufacturing industry. This hands‑on, customer‑facing position serves as the critical technical bridge between engineering, sales, and end customers and is responsible for configuring, validating, and optimizing equipment solutions that drive measurable production outcomes.

This role will work across four core product lines including wave soldering, reflow, cleaning, and printing systems, and partner with customers ranging from circuit board manufacturers to large-scale electronics producers. This role offers significant autonomy, structured mentorship from seasoned industry experts, schedule flexibility, and a clearly defined path to becoming a subject matter expert (SME) with long‑term growth into senior technical and leadership opportunities as the team expands globally.

Key Responsibilities
