Job summary

SGS Consulting seeks a skilled Industrial Controls Engineer to develop BMS control programs, design intuitive HMI interfaces, and perform on-site commissioning. You will validate field devices, troubleshoot systems, document work, and support post-turnover testing, training, and beta hardware/software evaluation for challenging projects.

Based in the Boston area, travel to client sites is expected and collaboration with cross-functional teams required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering field.
• At least 4 years’ work experience in Industrial Controls / Automation.
• Familiarity with Modicon PLCs and EcoStruxure Control Expert (Unity Pro).
• Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA and/or AVEVA System Platform.

Responsibilities

• Develop control programs for BMS systems using Function Block, scripting, and graphical interfaces.
• Design user-friendly graphical interfaces for BMS systems.
• Perform on-site startup, system checkout, commissioning, and programming.
• Validate and troubleshoot field devices, controllers, and equipment during point-to-point checkout.
• Adhere to established software development and documentation standards.
• Clearly communicate project status, challenges, and solutions.
• Collaborate with project teams and contractors to ensure successful commissioning.
• Create simulation software to test and validate project software.
• Deliver training sessions at customer sites or training centers.
• Develop and execute test scripts to verify BMS system performance.
• Support Managed Services by testing and resolving post-turnover issues.
• Assist in beta testing of new hardware/software to assess suitability for customer needs.
• Provision and manage servers or virtual machines to support project needs.
• Develop documentation for hardware/software installation guides.
• Perform QAQC checks on the PLC and SCADA code before initial delivery to the customer.
