Job summary

Danfoss seeks an Application Director to lead the Application function, turning variable-speed drive expertise into customer value and measurable business impact across Sales, Marketing, Product, PEC, Quality and R&D. You will build a strong application team and collaborative distributor network, guiding strategy and roadmaps while developing successors.

This on-site role requires 10+ years in drives/automation and fluent English and Chinese.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Automation, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in variable-speed drives, industrial automation, application engineering, technical service, R&D or product engineering.
• Proven experience leading a sizeable technical team and developing technical leaders or successors.
• Strong drive-application expertise and business acumen with a track record of converting technical value into business results.
• Excellent cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills in English and Chinese.

Responsibilities

• Define the application strategy and deliver measurable impact through stronger application solution conversion to order-in-take and customer satisfaction enhancement.
• Partner with sales and customers to identify needs and develop differentiated, scalable drive and system solutions.
• Work with Vertical Marketing and Product Management to uncover application value, prioritize opportunities and influence product and solution roadmaps.
• Lead end-to-end resolution of major customer complaints and quality issues with PEC, Quality, R&D, Manufacturing and Service, from containment and root cause to corrective action and lessons learned.
• Develop and standardize core application technologies, tools and best practices, enabling effective deployment across regions and channels.
• Build up the technical competency within the internal team and strategic distributors through coaching, certification, knowledge transfer and real customer projects.
• Lead and develop the application organization by setting clear goals, building talent, managing performance and fostering accountability, collaboration and innovation.

The Impact You'll Make

As our Application Director, you’ll play a key role in leading the Application function to convert variable-speed drive expertise into customer value and measurable business impact. Drive end-to-end collaboration across Sales, Vertical Marketing, Product Management, PEC, Quality and R&D, while building a strong application team and sustainable technical successor pipeline within Danfoss and strategic distributors.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Define the application strategy and deliver measurable business impact through stronger application solution conversion to order-in-take and customer satisfaction enhancement;
  
• Partner with sales and customers to identify needs and develop differentiated, scalable drive and system solutions;
  
• Work with Vertical Marketing and Product Management to uncover application value, prioritize opportunities and influence product and solution roadmaps;

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Automation, Control Engineering or a related field;
  
• At least 10 years of experience in variable-speed drives, industrial automation, application engineering, technical service, R&D or product engineering;
  
• Proven experience leading a sizeable technical team and developing technical leaders or successors;
  
• Strong drive-application expertise, customer orientation and business acumen, with a track record of converting technical value into business results;
  
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and resolve critical customer or quality issues;
  
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills in English and Chinese.
