Application Development Manager – Java

YOUR ROLE

You will use various tools to develop and maintain our QUEST quoting system. You will lead other developers in designing and developing the QUEST quoting application using Java + Java tools (JDK), Oracle, JBoss, Apache Web Server, Spring, JSON, APIs, and Eclipse. This role will also be key in driving the cloud migration of on-prem servers for the QUEST application. You will be responsible for the modernization of the application to cloud-based solutions to include AZURE and AWS. You will work closely with stakeholders to define and deliver enhancements, performance improvements, and new interfaces. You will become familiar with Long Term Care products, business principles, and implementation details. We need someone to dive into multiple technologies and business areas to drive solutions.

What you will be doing

  • Drive migration of on-prem applications to the cloud while ensuring a seamless integration and modernization.
  • Support rate action deliverables and new product initiatives in QUEST.
  • Execute the Cost of Care annual updates to the portal and letter changes.
  • Self-driven recognition of future technology changes as technology landscape changes and recommendations of best practices.
  • Design scalable, secure, and high-performing applications and solutions.
  • Coordinate with testers, business stakeholders, architects, and infrastructure teams to resolve application defects and drive future enhancements.
  • Acquire and apply knowledge of LTC standards and products to UI, application, and cloud design.
  • Review coding of other team members and ensure team standards are followed.
  • Mentor team members to ensure coding standards are followed and knowledge of new technology.

What you bring

  • 4-year college degree or relevant equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in technology or insurance.
  • 8+ years of application development experience with Java + Java tools (JDK), Oracle, JBoss, Apache Web Server, Spring, JSON, APIs, and web services.
  • Knowledge of database structure and solutions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Mainframe technology and interaction with web services.
  • Strong understanding of Cloud Computing including AZURE or AWS.

Nice to have

  • Practical knowledge of QUEST application.
  • Experience in CLOUD containerization - Docker etc.
  • Strong understanding and experience in AGILE methodologies related to application development.
  • Experience in pipeline deployments.
  • Practical knowledge of cloud applications and concepts.
  • Practical knowledge of LTC products.
