Job summary

Michael Page is seeking an Applications Deployment Engineer for its Midtown NYC client. The role focuses on deployments, release management, and environment configuration, with Linux-based troubleshooting and SDLC oversight.

You'll deploy across dev, test, staging, and production, manage releases, and automate deployment pipelines. The position requires hands-on deployment experience, strong Linux skills, scripting ability, and familiarity with tools like Azure DevOps, Ansible, and Rundeck.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of deployment/DevOps experience in relevant roles.
• Hands-on experience with deployments, releases, and environment management.
• Strong understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience with production deployments, release validation, rollback procedures, and deployment troubleshooting.
• Strong Linux administration and command-line skills.
• Shell scripting experience (Bash or similar).
• Ability to analyze logs to diagnose deployment issues and incidents.
• Experience creating and maintaining operational documentation and runbooks.
• Understanding incident management processes and structured problem solving.
• Familiarity with deployment and release automation tools such as Azure DevOps, Ansible, Rundeck.

Responsibilities

• Support application deployments across development, testing, staging, and production environments.

• Troubleshoot deployment, environment, and application issues via logs and RCA.
• Monitor system and application performance and identify risks and failures.
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure and support teams to improve processes.
• Create and maintain deployment documentation, runbooks and recovery procedures.
• Support production incidents and contribute to service improvements.
• Integrate applications with monitoring platforms like Grafana, Splunk, OpsRamp.
• Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity testing.
• Provision and configure servers and environments for delivery.
• Manage access, authentication, authorization and service accounts.

Profile

• Minimum of 3-7 years' experience in deployment engineering, release engineering, DevOps, production support, application engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience supporting application deployments, software releases, and environment management.
• Strong understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Experience with production deployments, release validation, rollback procedures, and deployment troubleshooting.
• Strong Linux administration and command-line skills.
• Experience with shell scripting using Bash or similar scripting languages.
• Ability to analyze system and application logs to diagnose deployment issues and production incidents.
• Experience creating and maintaining operational documentation, procedures, and runbooks.
• Understanding of incident management processes and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience configuring and supporting application environments, servers, and deployment tools.
• Knowledge of authentication, authorization, service accounts, and access management.
• Familiarity with deployment and release automation tools such as Azure DevOps, Ansible, Rundeck, or similar platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues and risks to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working in Agile development and delivery environments.
