Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking an Application Delivery Technical Lead to guide software engineers, shape architecture, and ensure delivery of enterprise solutions. You will lead design discussions, mentor teams, and contribute hands-on code across Java, APIs, and integration points.

You will collaborate with architects and business users to align solutions with IT standards, ensuring high-quality code and scalable delivery across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
• 5 years of software development
• 3 years of database technologies
• 5 years of SDLC experience
• 3 years of systems analysis experience
• Experience with RPG, Java, Spring Boot and APIs design
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation on business requirements and functional specifications in design and software solutions; assists with project lifecycle
• Reviews development or modification of enterprise software solutions
• Balanced 50/50 design/mentorship and hands-on code delivery
• Develops and validates complex software designs ensuring adherence to architecture standards
• Leads technical direction for integrated software solutions across environments
• Ensures documentation for enhancements exists (design, requirements, test scripts)
• Responsible for code management and production deployment
• Mentors others in company methodologies and controls
• Provides options, risks, costs and benefits for software designs
• Facilitates deployment and maintenance of complex solutions
