Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, a leading LTL carrier, is seeking an Application Delivery Technical Lead to guide software engineers through design and implementation of enterprise solutions. You will mentor teams, review complex code, and ensure alignment with IT standards while delivering practical, scalable solutions.

The role combines architecture oversight with hands-on coding, balancing design, mentorship, and delivery across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years of software development experience.
• 3 years of database technologies experience.
• 5 years of SDLC experience.
• 3 years of systems analysis experience.
• Experience with RPG, Java, SQL, Angular and APIs design/implementation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation on business requirements and functional specifications in designs and code modules.
• Reviews development or modification of complex, enterprise software solutions.
• Balance design/mentorship with hands-on delivery of code (50/50).
• Develops and validates complex software designs to ensure alignment with architecture standards.
• Contributes to technical direction for development and integration across environments.
• Documents detailed requirements, design, and test scripts for enhancements.
• Mentor project teams and advise on options, risks and costs for solutions.
• Facilitate successful deployment of released applications and ongoing maintenance.
