Avum is seeking a results-driven application architect to lead our application development efforts. You will be consulting with senior business managers and customers on application requirements, incorporating desired functionalities into application development plans, and supervising application development stages. The ideal candidate should exhibit extensive application development knowledge and experience in evaluating business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that software solutions meet performance requirements, provide engaging and intuitive user experiences.
• Develops solutions by studying information needs, investigating problem areas, and following the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborates with stakeholders, including business analysts, project managers, and end-users, to understand business objectives and translate those goals into technical specifications that ensure scalability, performance, and security.
• Builds technical designs for software applications that incorporate architecture patterns, frameworks, data models, application components, and system integrations.
• Defines the architecture strategy and development roadmap to align with technology strategy.
• Recommends technologies and tools that align with the application’s requirements, based on factors such as performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Integrates security measures into the application architecture, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Conducts security assessments and recommends improvements to enhance cybersecurity.
• Translates user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) specifications into coding implementation.
• Tests applications to ensure optimal performance and evaluates new technologies to assess their applicability to specific projects.
• Integrates applications to run smoothly with back-end tools, such as cloud storage or application program interfaces (APIs).
• Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for the application architecture, including design documents, diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Defines coding standards, best practices, and guidelines to ensure consistency of the application codebase.
• Reviews code and architectural decisions to ensure compliance with established standards.
• Identifies and addresses performance bottlenecks in the application architecture.
• Engages in sector-specific professional development opportunities to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in application architecture.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Clearance.
• 5+ years of experience in software development, with some experience in application architecture roles.
• Experience with large-scale enterprise applications is often preferred.
• Experience in software or solution architecture disciplines.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with the Department of Defense (DoD) Procure-to-Pay processes.

Location

The candidate will be required to interact and coordinate with external project team members and other Avum employees remotely, supporting core Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours. As a remote employee, the candidate will not have a permanent office or desk space but may be required to attend in-person meetings. This may require travel to government sites located in Washington, D.C., and the Avum office located in Agoura Hills, California. Our priority is acquiring the most qualified candidate to satisfactorily perform the required tasks, including team collaboration, regardless of the candidate’s geographical location.

NOTE: This fully remote role requires the candidate to participate in meetings virtually using tools like Microsoft Teams. Online availability during the core Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours, Monday through Friday, will be required.
