Job summary

Southern Company Gas is seeking an Application Analyst II to support the Gas Scheduler Technology portfolio for GAS Distribution Operations. The role focuses on assessing systems, addressing issues, and aligning solutions with business needs while coordinating with IT and business partners.

Reporting to the Supervisor, IT (Gas Scheduler Technology), the incumbent will drive design documents, ensure traceability, and balance production support with project work in a fast-paced utility environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field.
• Deep knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and conflicting priorities.
• Experience with Agile delivery (Kanban; Scrum).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with Business Systems Analysts, TPAs, BOTS and business partners to refine high-level requirements and requested changes.
• Facilitate and drive the creation of Functional Design documents and ensure requirements are captured as full functional requirements.
• Develop solutions leveraging base product when possible rather than extensive customization.
• Drive creation of Technical Design documents and ensure translation into actionable development specs.
• Develop and implement Requirements Traceability to ensure all requirements are tested.
• Provide on-call support and mentor less experienced analysts during incidents and projects.
• Communicate complex technical concepts in clear, non-technical language and maintain ITIL aligned processes.
