Job summary

Southern Company is seeking an Application Analyst II to support Field technology platforms and GAS Scheduler Technology within GAS Distribution Operations. You will assess systems, develop functional and technical designs, and drive requirement traceability to ensure production support and project delivery meet business needs.

The role emphasizes collaboration with analysts, TPAs and business partners, plus hands-on experience with Agile delivery, ITIL practices, and complex problem solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science or a related field.
• Deep knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities.
• Ability to work with partners and peers at varying technical levels.
• Interest in learning in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with projects of varying sizes including production support.
• Ability to identify root cause and mitigations with technical staff.
• Experience creating Functional/Technical Design Documents and TRMs.
• Knowledge of BA processes, methodology and tools.
• Subject matter expert for Field applications (Mobile, Rolling Office).
• Experience with Agile delivery; Kanban; Scrum.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Broad understanding of technical concepts across domains.
• On-call support capable, with mentoring ability.
• Excellent communication; translate tech to non-tech.
• ITIL Foundation knowledge

Responsibilities

• Refine high-level requirements with analysts and partners.
• Drive creation of Functional Design documents and translate requirements into technical design.
• Develop solutions leveraging base products where possible.
• Create Technical Design documents for handover to development.
• Develop and implement Requirements Traceability matrices.
• Develop tech solutions for complex problems with expertise and creativity.
• Prioritize work and meet project commitments.
• Maintain production support processes and root-cause analysis.
• Flex to support production, incidents and projects.
• Provide on-call support and mentorship to others.
• Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Align strategies with Technology Organization goals and governance.
