Job summary

Gravity IT Resources is seeking an Application Analyst II to support critical grid management systems from the client’s distribution control center. This on-site contract role focuses on maintaining system health, troubleshooting incidents, and coordinating responsive action with operators, vendors, and support teams.

You will contribute to software upgrades, storm readiness initiatives, and ongoing modernization while working independently and communicating clearly with technical and business

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, or related field with four years of related work experience.
• Associate Degree in the same fields plus six years of related work experience.
• High School/GED plus eight years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight for the 24×7 production support for the client’s jurisdiction.
• Act as the main IT liaison for the distribution control center, coordinating with operators, stakeholders, and support teams to ensure system reliability.
• Monitor system health, performance metrics, and dashboards to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Lead technical troubleshooting for complex incidents, coordinating with vendors and support units to restore service promptly.
• Support operational readiness through participation in on-call rotations, emergency response, and incident management.
• Assist in planning, testing, and deploying system enhancements, ensuring readiness before release.
• Support initiatives to improve reliability, automation, monitoring, and modernization.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate performance, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
• Maintain knowledge of system architecture, workflows, and dependencies; serve as SME.
• Develop and update technical documentation, procedures, and support plans.
• Communicate system status, risks, incidents, outages, and project updates to leadership clearly.
• Research emerging technologies and best practices related to grid management and utility operations.
• Provide technical leadership in evaluating solutions and guiding operations decisions.
• Support storm preparedness and emergency response activities, including drills.
• Offer extended support during major storm/outage events with operations/restoration teams.
• Balance independent work with support, project delivery, and continuous improvement.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS or related discipline

Role Overview:
You will support critical grid management systems for our client’s distribution control center. Your focus will be on maintaining system health, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating incident response. You will work closely with operators, support teams, and vendors to ensure reliable and secure grid operations. You will also contribute to ongoing modernization efforts, software upgrades, and storm readiness initiatives. This role requires a self-driven professional capable of operating independently and communicating effectively across technical and business stakeholders. You will manage daily operations, lead troubleshooting efforts, and support emergency responses during severe weather events, ensuring the stability and resiliency of the client’s operational technology.

• Work independently while balancing support, project delivery, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related discipline, plus four (4) years of related work experience.
• In lieu of a Bachelor Degree, an Associate Degree in the same fields plus six (6) years of related work experience.
• In absence of degrees, High School/GED plus eight (8) years of related work experience.
• Must reside within a reasonable commute of the distribution control center location.
