Job description

Position Overview

The Apple Manager I will oversee Apple Department operations, including inventory management and visual merchandising, while ensuring compliance with contracts related to Apple and other licensed products. The role involves hiring, training, and developing team members, coordinating sales promotions with the Home Office, and managing their execution in-store. Additionally, the manager assists customers by suggesting computer products based on current product knowledge and manufacturer offerings. The position requires a strong understanding of Follett systems and strategies, effective execution of company programs, and adherence to policies and procedures. The manager partners with support teams such as Store Operations, RCMS, AP, HR, and Training, embodying Follett Values: Integrity, Accountability, Customers, Each and Every Associate, Innovation, and Teamwork.

Responsibilities

  1. Drive customer initiatives focused on solution-based selling and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
  2. Provide leadership to the computer products department staff, including assigning tasks, evaluating performance, and hiring/training new employees.
  3. Oversee technicians and repair operations, ensuring proper certifications are maintained as per licensing requirements.
  4. Manage multiple commitments diplomatically, assisting customers in finding suitable computer products.
  5. Handle special order functions, notify customers, and develop strategic partnerships with campus contacts and decision-makers.
  6. Evaluate and propose orders to meet sales goals, ensuring inventory aligns with vendor and campus expectations.
  7. Analyze sales trends, report findings to leadership, and keep staff updated on current computer and technology products.
  8. Coordinate with vendors on price, availability, and order status; collaborate with Store Manager and Home Office on promotions, events, budgets, and procedures.
  9. Promote cross-merchandising with the Course Materials Department.
  10. Meet with faculty and staff to promote store services.
  11. Work with the store manager and Home Office to develop strategies for sales growth and profitability.
  12. Stay informed on industry trends through newsletters and reviews; maintain relevant certifications if required.
  13. Ensure compliance with WinDSS ticketing processes and accurate merchandise ticketing.
  14. Verify SKU accuracy for special events and orders; minimize dump SKUing.
  15. Conduct inventory cycle counts and monitor scanning rates to improve processes.
  16. Act as liaison for Return-to-Vendor processes and maintain customer data, purchase orders, and invoices according to store policies.
  17. Ensure shelves are organized, stocked, and meet visual standards.
  18. Create and execute a calendar of promotional events, including seasonal and special recognition days.
  19. Manage product returns following RTV procedures.
  20. Supervise store operations in the absence of the store manager, including opening and closing the store.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • High School Degree or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of trade experience in computer products preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer products, typically 5-8 years of progressive experience, including 1-3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Possibly an advanced degree in a related field.
