Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 10+ years in business, analytical, technical, digital product, transformation, or product ownership experience.
• Hands-on Appian experience including building/configuring workflows, forms, interfaces, records, reports, or related Appian objects.
• Experience in financial services/fintech with exposure to regulated processes, risk, or compliance roles.
• Experience as product owner, product analyst, or business analyst in an agile or iterative delivery environment.
• Experience writing detailed, actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, specifications, process flows, or release documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to structure ambiguous problems and recommend practical solutions.
• Exposure to QA, UAT, regression testing, defect triage, test case development, and production validation.
• Working knowledge of AI-assisted tools and responsible use of AI to improve analysis and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and improve Appian workflows with a focus on speed to value, user-centric design, reuse of platform capabilities, governance, and operational control.
• Partner with business product owners, operations leaders, technology teams, and risk partners to gather requirements, map processes, define user needs, and prioritize workflow improvements.
• Own and manage product backlog items, including authoring, refining, and grooming user stories, acceptance criteria, specifications, process flows, UI concepts, test scenarios, and release-ready requirements.
• Lead stakeholder sessions to define current-state and future-state workflows, identify friction points, iterate on MVP designs, resolve issues, and drive alignment across business and technology teams.
• Evaluate requirements to identify reuse opportunities across workflows and determine when to reuse or extend existing capabilities.
• Use AI-assisted and agentic AI tools to accelerate discovery, process analysis, and workflow delivery.
• Focus on outcomes, incorporating design thinking, analytics, and continuous improvement.
• Support QA, UAT, regression testing, and production validation by defining test scenarios and validating builds.
• Partner with technology teams on integration points, data dependencies, security considerations, platform constraints, and production support.
• Keep current with Appian capabilities and governance; apply new capabilities responsibly.
• Champion platform-first approach and Appian best practices in a regulated environment.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and cadence.
• Build and maintain Appian reports and dashboards to track performance and KPIs.
• Understand and adhere to risk and regulatory standards.
• Promote belonging and the M&T Bank brand.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
