The role emphasizes hands-on Appian development, AI-enabled document processing, and end‑to‑end workflow orchestration with REST/SOAP integrations.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Appian Developer / Technical Lead with 8–12 years of overall IT experience and strong hands‑on expertise in designing, developing, and delivering enterprise applications using Appian. The ideal candidate should have practical experience with Appian AI capabilities and Document Center/document processing solutions, including document ingestion, classification, data extraction, human validation, workflow orchestration, and downstream system integration.

The role requires a strong combination of Appian application development, solution design, AI/document automation, integration, performance optimization, and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement scalable enterprise applications using Appian.
• Build solutions utilizing Appian SAIL interfaces, Process Models, Records, Expression Rules, Data Types, Data Fabric/Data Sync, and Connected Systems.
• Design and implement Appian Document Center / intelligent document processing workflows.
• Document classification
• Data/field extraction
• Workflow routing and downstream processing
• Integrate document-processing capabilities into end‑to‑end Appian business workflows.
• Develop reusable Appian components, frameworks, interfaces, rules, integrations, and process models.
• Integrate Appian applications with enterprise platforms through REST APIs, SOAP services, databases, and other integration mechanisms. Internal Appian reference material specifically identifies REST, SOAP, RDBMS and Web APIs as integration experience areas.
• Design effective data models leveraging Appian Records and Data Fabric.
• Work with structured and unstructured documents, including PDF‑based business documents.
• Implement validation and business rules around AI‑extracted document data to improve processing accuracy and reliability.
• Troubleshoot complex Appian application, integration, performance, and production issues.
• Ensure solutions follow Appian development standards, security principles and performance best practices.
• Participate in architecture/design reviews and provide technical guidance to developers.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to reusable design patterns and development standards.
• Support application deployment using enterprise CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, product owners, QA teams and business stakeholders through the full SDLC.
• Translate complex business processes into automated, user‑friendly workflows.
• Mentor junior Appian developers and provide technical leadership across delivery teams.

• Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MariaDB or PostgreSQL. These database technologies also appear in existing internal Appian capability material.
• Strong understanding of application architecture, performance tuning, security and Appian development best practices.
• Experience with Agile delivery methodologies.
• Experience with CI/CD and deployment automation. Internal reference material includes Azure DevOps‑based deployment experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Appian Certified Senior Developer or Appian Certified Lead Developer certification.
• Experience leading Appian design and development teams.
• Experience implementing AI‑enabled workflow and document automation solutions.
• Experience with insurance, financial services, life sciences, or other document‑intensive business processes.
• Experience integrating Appian with cloud, content/document management, API management and enterprise data platforms.
• Exposure to GenAI, intelligent automation, RPA, OCR or document extraction technologies would be advantageous.
