South Carolina Office of the Attorney General is seeking an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Appeals section. The role involves representing the State in criminal appeals through the appellate process, drafting briefs, and arguing before the State Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and other courts as needed.

The attorney will advise solicitors and law enforcement, manage calendars and deadlines, update LawBase, and handle related post-conviction matters while ensuring timely

Competenze

• Juris Doctorate Degree required.
• Must be a member in good standing with the South Carolina Bar.
• Must satisfy Rule 403 requirements prior to start date.
• Position may require overnight travel.
• Excellent written skills required; ability to operate dictation equipment.
• Experience using Westlaw preferred.

Mansioni

• Represent the State in criminal appeals through the appellate process, including reading transcripts and drafting briefs.
• Argue before the South Carolina Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and other courts as needed.
• Advise Solicitors and law enforcement on criminal matters and respond to inquiries.
• Manage calendars, deadlines, and ensure all pleadings are properly filed.
• Update LawBase promptly and maintain case files and related documents.
• Support post-conviction relief appeals when required.
• Notify victim advocates of case developments in a timely manner.
