Job summary

Universal Health Services (UHS) is seeking an Appeals Team Lead for the Atlantic Region Central Billing Office. You will coordinate Appeals Specialists and Coding Specialists, support the Appeals Department, and work with the Appeals Manager to resolve denials.

Responsibilities include training, reporting, liaising with payers and case management, and performance feedback. This role offers a dynamic team, competitive compensation, and opportunities across UHS subsidiaries.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years appeals experience preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Customer focused with attention to detail, able to multi-task and perform 10-key data entry.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Familiarity with appeals and healthcare business office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a support person for the Appeals Department by answering questions and addressing concerns.
  • Coordinates training of new hires and provides in-services as appropriate.
  • Works with Appeals Manager to resolve issues associated with denials between other internal departments of the CBO or external departments of the facilities served.
  • Works with Appeals Manager to review open and closed denials to monitor trends at individual facility level to assist with denial avoidance, by providing feedback.
  • Assists Appeals Manager in providing regular feedback to staff related to performance using reviews of productivity and quality of work.
  • Establish and build relationships with major payer representatives at third party insurance companies, and key contacts within Case Management departments within each facility.
  • Review and/or create daily, weekly and monthly reports as assigned.
  • Assist department manager and assistant director with developing individual and group departmental goals and objectives
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Atlantic Region CBO is seeking a dynamic and talented Appeals Team Lead.

The Appeals Team Lead is responsible for working in conjunction with the Appeals Manager to coordinate the operational activities of the Appeals Specialists and Coding Specialists.
