DICK'S Sporting Goods in the United States is seeking a TeamCaptain–Apparel to lead the Apparel department and deliver a shopping experience rooted in product knowledge and athlete connection.

You will coach teammates, drive sales, and ensure athletes feel confident in their selections while building a strong, capable team and maintaining high standards of service and store operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of experience.
• Previous retail/customer-facing experience required.
• Previous people leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging athlete experiences by helping customers and sharing product knowledge.
• Uphold merchandising standards, signage, price changes and inventory presentation.
• Promote company programs, loyalty, warranties and private label enrollment.
• Contribute to 30-60-90 day plans with the store leadership for department priorities.
• Develop plans for staffing, budgets, and merchandising initiatives.
• Execute plans and adjust as needed using independent judgment.
• Act as Head Coach when leading the store, including opening/closing procedures and supervision.
• Communicate goals to teammates and assign workloads to maximize efficiency.
• Monitor progress and adjust plans to meet payroll and financial targets.
• Build a strong team and lead sourcing, interviewing, onboarding and retention.
• Ensure coaching, feedback and development for teammates throughout lifecycle.
• Handle performance management, reviews and promotion recommendations.
• Create an inclusive store environment where teammates and athletes are respected.
• Enforce safety, loss prevention and SOPs and compliance with external guidelines.
• Hold teammates accountable for meeting expectations.
