American Exchange Group is seeking an Apparel Technical Fit Designer / Fit Technician to lead fit sessions and ensure precise garment balance across junior, missy, and sleepwear lines. The role blends hands-on technical work with collaboration across design and production in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has sharp technical eye, strong fit expertise, and can work onsite Monday-Thursday with Friday remote in our New York area office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion, Apparel, Textiles, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of apparel fit, garment construction, and fabric properties.
• Experience working with multiple factories and managing production timelines.
• Proficiency in sewing techniques and understanding garment construction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead fit sessions on live models and dress forms.
• Evaluate garment fit, balance, and proportion across categories.
• Create and communicate clear fit comments to overseas factories.
• Collaborate with patternmakers and technical design to resolve fit issues.
• Review and measure samples (SMS, PP, TOP) for consistency.
• Track fit approvals and maintain sample records.
• Work with merch, design, and production to meet deadlines.
• Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
