24 Seven Talent in Lakewood, NJ is seeking a talented Layette Designer to join our creative team. This role focuses on translating concepts into production-ready garments while upholding quality, cost, and brand standards.

The Layette Designer will develop complete tech packs, manage fabric libraries, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure design intent is met during development. Hybrid schedule: 2 days in-house, remaining days remote.

Qualifications

• Experience in layette, infant, or children’s apparel design.
• Strong understanding of fabrications, trims, garment construction, and fit.
• Ability to independently create complete tech packs and artwork prints is required.
• Experience with PLM systems and apparel development processes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to balance creative vision with production feasibility and budget requirements.

Responsibilities

• Translate creative concepts into comprehensive technical specifications.
• Provide all necessary information to execute each design, including fabrication and material selection, trims, color specifications, sewing techniques, garment construction, label placement, artwork and print design, budget adherence, and fit instructions.
• Ensure all design information is accurately documented within the Tech Pack and PLM system.
• Create and maintain complete, accurate, production-ready tech packs.
• Provide original samples to support the development of new styles.
• Maintain the fabric library within the PLM system with clear supplier information.
• Collaborate with the Technical Designer and Graphic Designer to develop development specifications and artwork.

About The Role
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Layette Designer to join our creative team. This position is ideal for a designer who combines a strong aesthetic sensibility with technical expertise and a comprehensive understanding of infant apparel development.
The Layette Designer will be responsible for translating creative concepts into fully developed, production-ready garments while ensuring every design detail is clearly communicated and aligned with our quality, cost, and brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design Development & Technical Execution

• Translate creative concepts into comprehensive technical specifications.
• Provide all necessary information to execute each design, including:
• Fabrication and material selection
• Trims and embellishments
• Color specifications
• Sewing techniques
• Garment construction
• Label placement
• Artwork and print design
• Budget adherence
• Fit instructions
• Ensure all design information is accurately documented within the Tech Pack and PLM system.
• Create and maintain complete, accurate, and production-ready tech packs.
• Provide original samples to support the development of new styles.
• Maintain the fabric library within the PLM system, including clear and accurate supplier information.
  

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate closely with the Technical Designer to develop accurate development specifications.
• Partner with the Graphic Designer to create artwork, prints, and technical packages.
• Identify and resolve design and construction challenges before sample development.
• Work collaboratively with overseas manufacturing partners to ensure design intent is maintained.
• Attend design meetings and adhere to established development deadlines and TIA calendar guidelines.
