Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a department associate to deliver outstanding customer service, answer product questions, stock shelves, and maintain a safe, inviting store environment that encourages customers to return. You will help ensure displays are well-stocked and accurately labeled while staying aligned with store standards.

In this role you’ll support the department manager to meet sales and profit goals, follow company policies, and participate in promotions.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18.
• Ability to meet minimum physical demands.
• Basic math skills required (counting, addition, subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond with suggestions.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Observe scheduled shift hours.
• Follow health and safety codes.
• Model excellent customer service and keep the department clean.
• Demonstrate creative merchandising.
• Keep displays stocked and conditioned per standards.
• Be aware of product arrival dates.
• Maintain workload to meet deadlines.
• Assist with bulletins and special programs to drive sales.
• Complete paperwork per policy.
• Adhere to merchandising, customer service, cash control, labor control and safety rules.
• Promote sales via intercom announcements.
• Support safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs.
• Notify management of accidents.
• Report safety risks, theft or fraud.
