APP Urology - Inpatient

Position Highlights
- Three, 12‑hour shifts per week
- 13 weekends per year, including holiday weekends (no holiday or call obligation)
- First call for hospital urology coverage: consults, post‑operative rounding, bedside procedures under physician oversight
- Occasional clinic coverage to assist with urgent referrals evaluation
Responsibilities
- Provide first‑call urology coverage for inpatient patients, including consults, post‑operative rounding, bedside procedures, and occasional clinic visits.
- Perform initial comprehensive assessments to determine appropriate level of care and facilitate timely discharges or transfers.
- Evaluate patients, labs, EKG, and imaging studies.
- Complete documentation for billing, orders, and progress notes.
- Act as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team: coordinate care, identify complications, and implement quality measures.
- Communicate clearly and effectively using SBAR with physicians, the multidisciplinary team, patients, payers, and community agencies.
- Utilize collaborative agreements and prescriptive authority in partnership with oversight physicians.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current unrestricted or pending licensure in Michigan.
- 1‑2 years of patient‑care experience as an APP in an acute setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to compassionate, patient‑centered care.
- Ability to use Word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- Current prescriptive authority and collaborative agreement with oversight physician(s).
- Maintain all medical‑staff privilege requirements.
