Description
Bronson Urology and Continence Specialists have an exciting opportunity for a goal‑oriented, energetic Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care in an acute inpatient setting.
Position Highlights
- Three 12‑hour shifts per week, 13 weekends per year including holiday weekends, but no holiday or call obligation.
- First‑call coverage for hospital urology including consults, post‑operative rounding, bedside procedures with oversight from a physician.
- Occasional clinic coverage to assist with evaluation of urgent referrals.
- 1–2 years of patient‑care experience as an APP preferred.
- Comfortable working with primarily adult patients in an acute setting.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program.
- Current unrestricted or pending licensure in the state of Michigan.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient‑centered care.
- Current DEA license to prescribe medications (if applicable).
- Prescriptive authority and collaborative agreement with an oversight physician in place.
- Must maintain all requirements for medical‑staff privileges.

Responsibilities
- Concurrent Clinical Management: Coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate patient progression toward outcomes, including discharge or transfer; act as a clinical resource; identify complications and implement preventive measures; assist in integrating quality measures.
- Utilization Review: Perform initial comprehensive assessments to determine service intensity and need for hospital transfer; apply regulatory and third‑party payor criteria; facilitate timely discharges/transfers to appropriate level of care.
- Clinical Management: Evaluate and appropriately manage patients; interpret lab, EKG, imaging studies; document billing, medical care, orders, progress notes; be available for nursing questions or patient status changes.
