Job summary

Cboe Global Markets is seeking an Application Security Engineer to advance practical security for containerized services on Kubernetes. You will collaborate with engineering teams to design, build, and deploy secure applications in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have hands-on software development experience, Docker/Kubernetes expertise, and knowledge of secure coding practices, SAST/CI/CD tooling, and incident support. This role reports to the Cybersecurity Manager in Chicago.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering, application security, or a closely related role
• Hands-on software development experience, including building, testing, and deploying production services
• Experience with Docker/OCI containers and Kubernetes fundamentals
• Familiarity with common web and API vulnerabilities and secure coding practices
• Proficiency in at least one backend language (Go/Java/C#/Python/Node.js) and modern CI/CD workflows

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering teams to improve security of containerized services on Kubernetes
• Participate in secure design reviews and threat modeling for new features and APIs
• Perform code-level security reviews and provide remediation guidance to developers
• Help integrate security tooling into CI/CD pipelines (SAST, SCA) and triage findings
• Define and apply secure coding and deployment standards for Kubernetes workloads
