OrthoCarolina Spine is seeking a Physician Assistant to support a Spine Surgeon in Charlotte. The PA will conduct physical exams, order and interpret tests, and assist in surgical procedures while coordinating patient care across office and hospital settings.

The role requires completion of an AMA-accredited PA program, current NC PA licensure, and NCCPA certification. On-site clinical duties include injections, wound care, and rounding on inpatients as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program.
• Current North Carolina PA license.
• Certification by NCCPA.

Responsibilities may include assisting the physician in both the office and hospital setting, independent clinics seeing patients with a variety of orthopedic injuries and illnesses, assisting in the operating room as needed, and performing emergency room and floor consultations.Essential Functions:Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons/staff.Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. Assesses, applies and/or removes a variety of orthopedic casts, splints, and immobilization devices.Serves as assist-at-surgery for orthopedic procedures.Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, applies appropriate codes and charges for service, and assists in provision of continuity of care.Dictates patient records including discharge summaries, history and physical evaluations, operative procedure notes, consultations and office visit notes. Documents patient information and care provided in patient record.
