Job summary

State University of New York at Buffalo's UBMD Internal Medicine, in the Department of Medicine, is seeking applicants for a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Hospitalist. APPs work with physicians to provide hospitalist services and inpatient clinical care.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients within the hospitalist service.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and staff to ensure safe, effective care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and timely billing/documentation.
• Work within scope of practice per state law, policies, and privileges.
• Coordinate care plans with PCPs, patients, and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervising physician or division chief.

Job description

UBMD Internal Medicine, in the Department of Medicine , is seeking applicants for a full-time Advanced Practice Provider ( APP ) Hospitalist.

Advanced Practice Providers (APP’s) work with physicians to provide Hospitalist Service and inpatient clinical care. Will provide high quality, effective patient care; timely hospital discharge; improving patient satisfaction and quality measures as well as excellent communication with PCPs, patients and families.

They are responsible for:

• Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion and care coordination for patients.
• The APP will work with administrative, nursing, physician, and other staff to assure safe, effective, quality patient care.
• The APP will provide care within their scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, regulations, institutional policy, privileges and practice agreements.
• Maintain accurate and complete patient records; completes documentation within expected timeframe and submits completed billing in a timely fashion.
• Collaborate with physicians on designing and implementing appropriate plan of care for the patient, or chooses appropriate treatment based on pre-determined protocols.
• Any other duties as requested by collaborating physician, medical director and/or division chief.

This is a day shift position to be worked between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current NY State License through the NYS Education Department, Office of the Professions.
• Certified by the NYS Education Department as a PA or NP.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum two years’ experience with healthcare delivery.
• Previous experience in Hospitalist Medicine.
