Job summary

Virginia Gay Hospital, LTC and Clinics is seeking an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to support a busy family medicine clinic. The role focuses on patient care management, treatment, and consultation within a multi-disciplinary medical team.

The ideal candidate will participate in policy development and review, maintain patient records, and collaborate with physicians across departments including the ER. Commitment to licensure and ongoing education is required.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology is required.
• Ability to perform patient assessments and interpret vital signs accurately.
• Familiarity with medical imaging techniques used in diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Experience with accurate and compliant medical documentation.
• Solid understanding of emergency medicine protocols and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and provide appropriate medical care.
• Participate in policy development, execution and review for clinic services.
• Refer patients to needed services outside the clinic when necessary.
• Maintain and transfer patient health records as required.
• Coordinate with physicians and staff across departments, including ER.
• Attend required education to maintain Iowa licensure.
• Delegate duties to support staff and represent medical staff on hospital committees.
• Monitor and record patient vital signs and utilize imaging for planning.

Job description

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our medical team in a very busy family medicine clinic. The ideal candidate will assist in patient care management, treatment, and consultation.

Please Note: No holidays, very limited Saturday morning.

Duties:

• Conduct patient assessments and provide appropriate medical care
• Participate in the development, execution and periodic review of the written policies governing the services the clinic furnishes.
• Provide services in accordance with those policies.
• Arrange for, or refer patients to, needed services that cannot be provided at the clinic.
• Assure that adequate patient health records are maintained and transferred as required when patients are referred.
• Participate with a physician in a periodic review of the patient’s health records.
• Advanced NP shall perform medical services in accordance with the rules of ethics governing the practice of medicine.
• Advanced NP is responsible to attend required educational offerings to maintain licensure in the State of Iowa.
• Advanced NP shall delegate duties to support staff as appropriate.
• Advanced NP shall serve as medical staff representative on Virginia Gay Hospital committees as appropriate.
• Advanced NP shall maintain medical staff privileges at Virginia Gay Hospital.
