Job summary

Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY:

A skilled member of the health care team, the Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner) serves the PRHC Clinics through evaluation and treatment of patients in collaboration with the physician regarding the provision of direct medical care.Responsibilities include obtaining medical histories, performing physical exams, providing initial emergency care, ordering lab tests and x-rays, prescribing medications, providing patient education and counseling, forming diagnoses and administering treatment in accordance with clinic protocols and established standards are care.The Advanced Practice Provider is active in the development and maintenance of clinic operations in coordination with the CAC, Clinic Services Director and/or Chief of Clinic Services; participates in performance improvement activities and Lean Healthcare initiatives.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• · Completion of Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited institution.
• · Licensure in the State of Iowa as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
• · Previous PA/NP experience in a clinic practice preferred.
• · Understanding of the PA/NP scope of practice and ability to accept the limitations of his/her position within the PRHC organization.
• · BLS or ACLS certification or ability to obtain within 4 months of hire date.
• · Must possess a valid Iowa driver’s license and meet satisfactory motor vehicle record requirements, if applicable.
• · Must maintain and provide proof of his/her own auto insurance policy, if applicable.
• · Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• · Strong written skills, including excellent spelling, proofreading and English Composition skills.
• · Ability to communicate effectively in one on one as well as group settings
• · Ability to demonstrate a great deal of empathy and understanding toward others.
