Job description

Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Nephrology Department

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Nephrology Department.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients with chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injury in the inpatient setting under the supervision of an attending nephrologist.
• Evaluate new patients and perform follow-up care.
• Monitor kidney function, blood pressure, order appropriate tests, evaluate medications, prescribe and titrate medications.
• Coordinate care as part of a multidisciplinary team; opportunity for outpatient management of chronic kidney disease, peritoneal dialysis, and home dialysis.
• Provide comprehensive health care to patients across various states of health or illness in collaboration with physicians following agreed-upon guidelines.
• Provide weekend coverage 1-2 weekends per month.

Requirements

• Experience in a medical or surgical ICU environment; dialysis experience is a plus.
• Board certification required.
• Valid Connecticut license required.
