Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking an APN Cardiology Fellow to perform advanced nursing/PA functions in a general outpatient cardiology setting. The role emphasizes patient care quality, accurate documentation, and a personalized patient experience under professional standards of care.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in nursing with appropriate Illinois licensure; a Doctorate in nursing is preferred. Travel to various practices and occasional weekend coverage may be required.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in nursing is required.
  • Licensure/ Certification: IL RN License, IL/APN license, and DEA for prescribing narcotics.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; detail oriented.
  • Preferred: Doctorate in nursing (DNP).

Overview
Position Summary

According to professional standards of care, the APN Cardiology Fellow performs a variety of advanced nursing / physician assistant functions. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Job Specifics
  • Primary clinical experience in general outpatient cardiology practices
  • Additional training in cardiology subspecialties
  • Experiences in rural and urban practices. Travel required.
  • In-seat didactic each week with simulation, skills training, case-based learning, and specialty speakers
  • Monday- Friday, limited weekends and holidays

Responsibilities
  • Providing high quality patient care to the patients of OSF.
  • Providing such professional Advanced Practice services.
  • Maintaining the consistency and quality of all services provided to the Practice and its patients.
  • Maintaining full and current patient medical records, including reports of all examinations, procedures, and other services performed by Provider or other support staff.
  • Exercising diligence in assisting the Ministry CEO in keeping costs of the Practice to a minimum while maintaining a high level of quality care for patients.
  • Providing a truly personalized, patient‑centric experience to patients of the Practice and the OSF Hospital aligned to the patient's preferences, goals and needs.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Master’s degree in nursing
Licensure/ Certification: IL Registered Nurse License IL Advanced Practice Nurse License Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics
Other Skills/Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Doctorate in nursing (DNP)
