Job summary

Discovery Life Sciences in Quincy, MA is seeking an Apheresis Registered Nurse to join the Donor Management team. You will deliver direct care to healthy donors undergoing blood and/or tissue collection in an outpatient setting.

The role requires MA RN license, an associate degree, and IV skills, with 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience. This part-time, on-site position offers a collaborative environment and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• 1–2 years clinical nursing experience.

• Oncology, apheresis, blood bank, or infusion experience preferred but not required.
• Strong computer skills with Word, Excel and Google Apps preferred.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, perform, and complete donor collection procedures according to SOPs.
• Follow process flow to fulfill and ship orders timely.
• Document donor eligibility and qualifications.
• Educate donors on collection process and program expectations.
• Ensure donor safety and manage adverse events.
• Act as a resource to other clinical team members.
• Coordinate daily workflow with front desk staff and perform front desk duties as needed.
• Provide lead RN coverage in the absence of the lead RN.
• Lead continuous improvement of practices, processes and donor satisfaction.
• Analyze diagnostic laboratory data.

Position Summary:

Discovery is looking for a talented and passionate Apheresis Nurse to join our dynamic Donor Management team. As an Apheresis Registered Nurse, you will play a pivotal role delivering direct care to normal healthy donors undergoing blood and/or tissue collections in an outpatient setting. A Day in the Life of an Apheresis Registered Nurse at Discovery Life Sciences:

• Review the donor schedule, prepare collection equipment, and coordinate workflow with front desk and clinical staff
• Perform donor eligibility assessments, initiate IVs, conduct apheresis or blood collections, and closely monitor donor safety throughout procedures
• Educate donors on the collection process, program expectations, and aftercare while delivering a high‑touch, positive donor experience

Must-Have Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):

• Massachusetts Registered Nurse License
• Associate’s degree or higher in Nursing
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• 1-2 years clinical nursing experience
• Experience starting IVs is required
• Prior oncology, Apheresis, blood bank, or infusion experience preferred but NOT required
• Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Apps strongly preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Initiate, perform, and complete donor collection procedures according to specified policies and standard operating procedures
• Follow established process flow to ensure customer orders are fulfilled and shipped timely.
• Perform and document pertinent assessments to establish donor eligibility and qualifications
• Provide donor education as it relates to specific collection procedures ensuring the sustained reliability and safety of the donor base, this includes thorough explanation on collections process as well as reinforcement on commitment needed to program.
• Ensure donor safety including managing adverse events during collection procedures
• Acts as a resource person to other clinical team members
• Ability to monitor daily schedule and coordinate daily workflow with front desk staff and perform all front desk duties as needed.
• Perform daily functions of the lead RN in the absence of the lead RN. Including, act as clinical point of contact during audits or clinical investigations.
• Lead continuous improvement of practices, processes and procedures to further donor satisfaction, compliance, documentation and efficiency.
• Ability to analyze diagnostic laboratory data

Compensation and Benefits:

Discovery Life Sciences is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices, and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $45 - $52 per hour. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience. Your annual salary is only one part of your total compensation package. Other benefits include:

Location, work hours, and application details:

• Onsite in Quincy, MA
• Monday – Wednesday, as needed (16 – 30 hours per week)
• Start time 6:30am local time; 8-10 hour shifts
