Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA seeks a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care per the nursing process from admission to discharge. Responsibilities include assessments, discharge planning, care coordination, medication administration, and patient/family education.

Current MA nursing licensure with active BLS; ACLS preferred for some units. A signing bonus may be available; scheduling is 40 hours/week, on day shift with 8-hour blocks.

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
• BLS is a requirement for every RN unless ACLS certification is current, in addition to any unit specific certifications and competencies.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the Nursing Process for patient care from Admission to Discharge.
• Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
• Develops and coordinates plan of care including discharge planning.
• Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluates nursing care within the assigned clinical setting.
• Delegates appropriately according to job description and competency level.
• Documents patient care according to standard procedure.
• Develops and documents Education Plan for patient and family.
• Ensures quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other health care providers.
• Administers medications and performs treatments and procedures per policy; assists physician as required.
• Participates in Nursing Governance activities.
• Assists in education and development of staff.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and uses quality improvement daily.

Hiring Range:

$39.89 - $87.15

(based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week).

Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. Compensation for part-time or reduced schedules will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

• Participates in and supports Nursing Governance activities.
• Assumes responsibility for professional growth. Assists in education and development of staff.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrate the use of quality improvement in daily operations.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

• Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
• BLS is a requirement for every RN unless advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit specific certifications and competencies.

Preferred:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.

Experience/Skills:

• Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

At least one (1) full year of experience managing patients on complex medical equipment requiring large amounts of extracorporeal blood for processing such as apheresis or dialysis. Effective communication and computer skills are required.
