Job summary

City of Hope in Duarte, California is seeking an experienced Apheresis Nurse to join our caring team. The role provides comprehensive patient care within a multidisciplinary environment, performing donor phlebotomy and donor/therapeutic apheresis per SOPs.

Requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Nursing, a California RN license, and BLS certification, with at least one year of donor center phlebotomy experience. Training or preceptor experience is preferred.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least 1 year Donor Center phlebotomy experience; training/preceptor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs donor phlebotomy and donor/therapeutic apheresis per SOPs.
• Participates in SOP validation and suggests changes prior to implementation.
• Maintains knowledge of blood collection rationale and apheresis techniques.
• Gathers data, assists in design and reporting of Donor Center trials; supports QA activities.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Apheresis Nurse to join our team at City of Hope. The Apheresis Nurse functions as part of a care team who, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary health team, is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care.

As a successful candidate, you will:

Performs donor phlebotomy, donor and therapeutic apheresis according to Donor Apheresis Center standard operating procedures.
Participates in standard operating procedure validation and recommends changes prior to implementation.
Maintains knowledge of rationale and techniques relating to blood collection and apheresis.
Participates in the design of Donor Center trials and maintains records. Gathers statistical data, assists in writing summary reports.
Participates in quality assurance activities to continually ensure safety of the blood supply and provide high quality service to internal and external customers.

Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nursing is required.

One year Donor Center (phlebotomy) experience

Experience in training or as a preceptor preferred.

Required Certification/Licensure:

California RN license
